THE HORSES & ANIMALS

The animals I pick up come from all kinds of situations. Some are cruelly abused and severely neglected, some come from well intended people who incur hardship. My job is not to judge or get caught up in the circumstances and just take care of the animal. It's hard sometimes to do that, but the animals have taught me that although they have suffered and remember everything that's happened to them, they are remarkably willing to start fresh given the time and right care.

They don't want pity, sympathy, or kisses and hugs. Compassion is necessary, along with firm leadership, respect, and a lot of give and take, but mostly they want time to let the change of circumstances sink in, their physical needs met, and the opportunity to be a horse again. To be full of themselves. I still have a lot to learn and that is part of what is exciting to me. It's ever changing and demands the best and most of me every day.
